Learning conversation

What do you think has gone particularly well so far this year? What are your strengths? - Enjoying the classes so far, especially editing the short film. What is stopping you from achieving your goals? What threats might you face, (for example not enough time, lack of organisation, pressure from other subjects...) - Not great at pushing myself to do things, not much motivation, scared of what other people may think? Identify 3 specific targets for yourself for the rest of this year. They can be both academic and organisational goals. -Do all my work before the day before it is due -Become more confident -Study hard What grade do you want to achieve in media studies? -Hopefully an A* :) Do you have any suggestions about the course? - What job to you want to get after you've finished education (this can be really vague!) -Not sure, maybe character illustration or song writing? Did you do GCSE media? If so, what grade did you get?  -N/A Remote learning What equipment do you hav...

Task 2- Analysing a music video: Flaws - Bastille

Image
Colour: Blue and grey colours are carried throughout the first half of the video which reflects the setting of Coney Island coast which was where it was filmed. Warmer tones show nearer the middle as the sun is setting, which makes the video appear that it was filmed in one single day. The last minute or so the sky is dark and the lights from the attractions illuminate the area, showing the nearing of the end of the day, and the ending of the video. Shot type: The video is presented in a lot of long shots and mid shots. The long shots create the scene, showing the setting and the attractions within. The mid shots bring more attention to the characters, focusing and them and what they are doing (e.g looking at fish in a fish tank, focusing on the person singing) The flip between these shots present the setting and the emotions the characters are feeling.   Focus: The video is mainly in focus shots, bringing focus to the expressions from the people in the video and the de...

Task 1: Analysing my narrative

Colour: In my narrative, the colours are mostly untouched and not edited except for one photo. I did this, as I preferred the colours and look of the original photos but I edited one to experiment with the settings my phone had. It suggests to the audience this is an ordinary day in life, and there are no supernatural or scary themes to it. Shot type: The mix of close up’s and long shots invites the audience to follow the person in the story. The long shots present the setting of the story, which is set inside my house. With the close-up shots, they show detail and more focus on what is going on in the scene, such as looking in cupboards, or the dog looking back up at the person. Focus: Within my narrative, there is an even mix of in focus and out of focus shots. The in-focus shots centre the attention on the expressions made, and the other objects within the scene. The out of focus shots create a sense of mystery, as they tend to be the more abstract pictures, such as the p...
